Yup, me too!! I hadly ever read them, most of the articles were boring and full of useless shit which had nothing to do with someones "salvation"....I mean, an article on ice-cream, or a story from Namibia about the native birds??? I'd just focus on the front cover, and leave it up to the reader....

i have two interesting magazines i'd like to leave with you...
by in a new york bethel minute inbut did you notice that maybe 1% of the witnesses actually read the magazines?
it really doesn't kick in does it?
the fact that someone's eternal salvation can hinge on whether they accept the "interesting" magazines offered at their door... yet chances are, the ones offering it hadn't read them... now that's interesting!.

Birthdays are fun!
by pennycandy intomorrow is my youngest baby's 2nd birthday.
i'm gonna wrap presents and buy a cake and light candles and wear a silly hat and sing happy birthday.
and i'm not gonna have those silly nagging guilt feelings that i used to that kept me from singing the whole song or from getting in the pictures.

Yippeeeeee!!!!! Now the "terrible two's" start
Yup, birthdays are great - I had my first proper 'adult' party earlier this year and it was awesome!!! My sister came in with a cake and candles, all our mates were there too, and i got a few prezzies....I was buzzing for days, and that wasn't from the Saturday Night Substances

If raised JW - or in while young - how strict were your parents?
by Jamelle ini'm just curious to know where my parents register on the scale of strictness...
growing up, i felt absolutely smothered by my parents (mostly my mother).
the things i couldn't do were above and beyond the limitations put on the other young people in our hall.

Woooooooh, SHIT !!!! I guess my upbringing wasn't so bad after all I had a girlfriend (WORLDLY too) when I was 12, played rugby for my school, college and club, went to the school dances, listened to heaps of music, and I was even on the TM School, gave #4 Talks, was asked to give opening prayer for the Public Talk when I was 16, and served in the Quickbuild teams.....And my Dad was a MS too...... I guess he was trying to keep a sensible and normal balance for his kids, growing up in a split family
Fuck I feel sorry for you lot, you guys had it hard for sure!!!!

Embarrased that you were a JW?
by Lady Lee ini have finally started to read captive hearts, captive minds.. they say something that got me to thinking.. i used to feel embarassed to tell non-jws that i was a jw.
it was one thing to tell people at the doors.
it was totally another thing to tell other people.

make people guess what religion I used to be. I tell them first, that it is one of the weirdest religions. I don't know why JW isn't their first guess. Then I say, let me give you a hint. Then I knock on a table or wall.
That's great !! In all of my humour and wit, why didn't I think of that ? It's now my new party trick

I'm just numb! :-( I need to vent!
by caz ini have just witnessed for myself one of the most hypocritical scenes ever before in my life!
my sister's ex husband, ( father to 3 boys, 12, 15, 20 years) commited suicide a few days ago.
he has been a jehova's witness all of his life and and also suffered from bi polar disorder for most of it also, particularly bad in the past 3 years.

My heart, hugs and deepest love are with you Caz. To lose someone in those circumstances is terrible, and as so many have already said those JW's sure know how to make a tragedy become a situation of resentment and anger.
Having battled depression for at least 5 years now myself I learned just how untrained, unwilling and useless the 'shepherds' are... Untrained in that their only knowledge and understanding is the severely limited amount they allow themselves to receive due to their faith in an all-providing God.
Unwilling in that "Jehovah knows best" and so they aren't willing to turn to any other source in order to learn how to assist those with less obvious/understood conditions, especially mental health.
And Useless because they know jack-shit about anything, are preoccupied with position-jostling and power struggling so therefore have no true concern or interest in those they purport to care for.......
Again, turn to your true friends for support and help Caz, and remember that we are always willing to help.

Jeez.... (apparently so!) Just point me in the direction of the wine...... I'm sure the PO didn't break the bank to purchase it !
I guess a free piss-up courtesy of the brothers and sisters should never be turned down, you wouldn't want to appear to be PROUD would you ?

Uggghhh !!! Very ugly lyrics and ideas by two very mislead children. CHILDREN !!!
It's unfortunate that hillbilly-outcasts are granted the same freeness of speech that the Divided States Of Embarrassment allows its generally sane people... Perhaps parental screening should be introduced where all prospective parents are put through an intense psychological analysis prior to birth......prior to conception preferably !!!

Has this ever happened to you??
by young hearts, be free.. inokay, about a week or so ago i flew back 'home' to nz to be with my mother and step-father - who's battle with cancer was coming to a quicker than expected end....unfortunately he passed away on thursday just gone (20th).
so on friday i went to visit my dad, who lives 30 mins south and we were talking about things - work, life, and we got to talking about my stepdad's death.
they both worked on the same site for a while and so they knew each other, and dad was sad to hear about his death.

"Knocking" show in ' 06.
by Tigerman inas many of you know, there is going to be a pbs program aired next year titled, " knocking".
it''s a pro jw type of show where the jw's are depicted as a positive influence in society.
and i say "positive' in the sense that it touches on the most base of emotions.

Well, all I can say to that is "thank f*** I don't live in the States." Maybe next they'll start a 'reality' programme on cable, but instead of having the Osbourne's or Anna Nicole's life it'll be real-time, real-life door to door preaching !!!!

Anyways, we were discussing it then he said "It's sad to hear about ******* but I'll see him again, in the ressurection...." and I just about burst out laughing......well I did laugh, but I managed to contain myself - I just found it so amusing how he, and the rest of them can believe in such a fairy tale....... A ressurection ?? A brand new earth where everything is perfect, organized and we will never face pain ?? Seriously, I still kick myself now that I believed in that shit when I was a good dub !!
Do you have any experiences where their beliefs/practices have almost sent you into a fit of laughter?
